I’m not sure what’s more surprising. The growing list of big-shot directors who have expressed a glimmer of interest in directing Breaking Dawn, the fourth Twilight movie, or that Kristen Stewart has nice legs.
Neither. It’s that one of M. Night Shyamalan’s favorite movies of 2008 was Twilight.
The Sixth Sense man has joined the list of possible directors (so far we have Gus Van Sant, Bill Condon, Stephen Daldry and Sofia Coppola) for Breaking Dawn.
“I would’ve loved to be — I love the series, and Catherine [Hardwicke's] movie, it was one of my favorite movies of that year,” says Shyamalan . “Really, I thought tonally, it was a perfect movie. I called her up after I saw Twilight and was like ‘That was amazing.’ So I’m a big fan.”
No official word if The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be chopped in two.

Bravo! Bravo! M.Night Shyamalan thank you for your praise of Catherine Hardwicke’s little treasure of a film. I really loved the Twilight film, and I will always remember where I was and how I felt after I left the theater. I think that is a good measuring stick of the wonder and impact of a movie. If I close my eyes and let my imagination run I can return to the forever encapsulated emporium of wonder that certain films have etched in my head. Remembering Twilight as such always brings me back to a great place and space in life. Catherine Hardwicke deserves so much praise and thanks, it’s great to see M Night’s comments, he definitely gets it.
On a side note, the fact that Summit replaced Hardwicke still bothers me ferociously. Summit Entertainment has a nasty stain and stench of which I have a difficult time tolerating. Boy do I wish I could see another Catherine Hardwicke helmed Twilight movie. Fortunately Twilight is so devilishly fun to rewatch, I am still very content. Cheers Twilighters! Hi Stephanie! You Rock!
I think he will do a great job with breaking dawn…whether its one movie or two….and look at it this way. he will have a huge hit with the twilight saga either way.
