...and 5 and 6

...and 5 and 6

As the wacky world of Spider-Man turns, so too does the drama with the spider-script.

Zodiac scribe James Vanderbilt has been brought back to pen a fifth and sixth installment in the Spider-Man series for Sony Pictures. Vanderbilt wrote the first draft of the highly-anticipated fourth entry and will work to interconnect the fifth and sixth installments, a plan spidey-director Sam Raimi disliked.

But he’s only the director.

Columbia and Marvel Studios was feelin’ what Vanderbilt was layin’ down and rehired the screenwriter to plot out Spider-Man 5 and 6 in order to close the ever-growing gap between Spider-Man films.

Raimi brought in David Lindsay-Abaire and Gary Ross to rewrite Spider-Man 4, which will begin production starting early next year with a May 6, 2011 release.
