A sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine isn’t much of a surprise. In fact, it seemed like a foregone conclusion even before the Fox movie hit your neighborhood’s multiplex. But instead of fanboy speculation, we have official word.

Christopher McQuarrie will be getting to work on a follow-up to the razor-clawed hero shortly and will have moved the locale onto the beautiful shores of Japan. Based on the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller ’80s story, Wolverine, Logan will be applying those animal-like instincts towards the zen-like qualities of martial arts.

Logan’s move to Japan was hinted at during one of the multiple endings post-credits on X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The movie grossed $363 million world-wide despite the leaking of a DVD-quality work print.

A spin-off of Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds is also currently in development.
