It’s a plot synopsis custom-made for horror enthusiasts and more than likely repulsive to all others: two American girls are kidnapped by a mad German scientist and forced to participate in the sick man’s experiment, a fusion of the girls’ flesh-and-blood bodies, ass to mouth, to a Japanese man. Indeed. The title? The Human Centipede, naturally.
Written and directed by Dutch filmmaker Tom Six, The Human Centipede has been the talk of the gore community for months, with teaser trailers and stomach-churning clips wetting appetites (of the depraved). There’s been a question as to when non-festival-attending moviegoers would be able to see it, though…until today. Shock Til You Drop reports that IFC Films has scheduled an April 30 unveiling in New York City, followed by other cities in the proceeding weeks.
Since I’m fortunate enough to live in the Tri-State area and I frequent the cozy IFC venue often, I’ll no doubt be catching this one on opening day, and I’ll report back here with my thoughts in review form. Needless to say, the expectation bar is somewhat high. Doesn’t hurt that the two female leads, newcomers Ashlynn Yennie and Ashley c. Williams, are gorgeous. Never a bad thing, though it doesn’t make me feel any less sick for totally wanting to see this film.
