Robert Downey Jr. may look like a fang as Lestat in ‘Vampire Chronicles’ reboot

The Dandy
Iron Man stud Robert Downey Jr. is in close talks to star in a potential reboot of Anne Rice’s macabre series The Vampire Chronicles.
According to Bloody Digusting, Downey Jr., who is busting out with two highly anticipated films in Iron Man 2 and Sherlock Holmes, is believed to play Mr. Metrosexual vampire himself, Lestat.
Lestat was originally played by Tom Cruise in Neil Jordan’s Interview with the Vampire (loved it) and by Stuart Townsend in ’02’s Queen of the Damned (didn’t love it).
The Vampire Chronicles are a series of stories that center on Lestat de Lioncourt, a French dandy who becomes a vampire in the 1700s.
Universal Pictures now owns the deed to the stories though Warner Bros. still retains rights for the first two movies.
I’m seeing of a lot of complaining about this rumor. Not based on the absurdity of the rumor, but that Downey may actually play the fruity-baluity vampire (Noi, He’s French!). I recall people denouncing RDJ when he scored the role of a lifetime with Tony Stark/Iron Man.
- “He’s a has been!”
- “Didn’t he make a sex tape? He’s not a super hero, he’s a sexual deviant!”
- “I thought he died in Mexico or Thailand?”
- “He’s one of dem queers. I like dem queers but not this queer. He’s too queer.”
Now he’s a favorite amongst the Onlinerati. While I’m skeptical on the nature of this rumor, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say: I likey.

Me, I'm not going out on a limb. I really really likey also!!! RDJ is one of the greatest actors today. I think he can do anything he sets his mind too. If he does do this, he'll transform or morph into Lestat before our very eyes. God, I appreciate a method actor!!! You always know they are going that extra mile and 100 percent to get everything right. I am excited about this if it happens .
He also has no formal training. He's the classic American actor.
The man has an endless supply of talent, however he is simply too old to play Lestat, who was supposed to have been about 21 or so when he was "made". I don't care how method you are, you can't turn back time.
I think Robert Downey Jr. is great actor, but isn't a vampire suppose to be immortal, he's younger than I am, but Pitt and Cruise were around the same age when they did the original movie, and they as Mr. Downey are over 40 years old, and I wouldn't expect them to come back and reprise their roles at their respective ages either.
This is one where they have to cast a young 20 something actors.
