Universal to adapt another grimy anti-hero story in ‘Criminal Macabre’

It’s a well known fact that we, denizens of the web, love comic books, dark anti-heroes, vampires, and any and all pictures of Kim Kardashain. So it’s no surprise that Universal Pictures is combining all of that goodness into a feature length film…again….Without Kim.

Universal just landed the film rights to Criminal Macabre, a popular graphic-novel mini-series from Dark Horse Entertainment.

Steve Niles and Kyle Ward, who double-teamed on 30 Days of Night (FYI: I wasn’t feelin’ the film), will adapt the story for the big-screen.

The story revolves around a booze-drinkin’ and edgy supernatural detective who mascarades as a hitman. His marks? Vampires, ghosts and misc. monsters who walk around with us human folk. Yes, as a matter of fact, it does sound a bit racist in a “I hate monsters and The Dead sort of way.” They have rights too, don’t they? What’s next? Drinking fountains with signs that read “Living Only?” Are there public drinking fountains anymore?

No word on who will be directing the film.
