Home » Cheap Entertainment » 2010 Academy Awards Will Refine Acceptance Speeches
Tags: , , ,

My prayers have been answered! Just two days ago, I wrote a list of 12 ways that the Academy Awards could refine their ceremony to make it more appealing to viewers, and well, to suck less. One of my largest contentions with the Oscars is the irritating exit music, which I felt might be helped by some sort of regulation of acceptance speeches.

Lo and behold, the producers of the Academy Awards are asking nominees to prepare two acceptance speeches this year, in order to alleviate that problem. One speech will be more brief, prepared for the televised ceremony, while the other can be a longer  acceptance speech for a backstage “Thank You Cam” which will be posted online.

While I’m not sure how much this will fix the problem of over-long speeches, at least this means that the Academy Awards producers are listening to the complaints of viewers and are trying something new.
