Kim Cattrall, who recently appeared in an ad politely asking tourists to visit British Columbia, Canada, says that Sex and the City has single-handily changed the movie industry’s view of women.

Cattrall just wrapped up production on Sex and the City 2 and called the franchise “refreshing.”

“Re-examining what happens to women in their 30s, 40s and 50s is, in some ways, incredibly new territory,” says Cattrall. “I was driving to work and there was a big billboard with Denzel Washington looking like another film about the end of the world.

Sex and the City really is something quite new and fresh compared to that. There’s so much more to tell. It’s also something that women crave.”

But being a part of a popular series, both on TV and in film, can take a toll on one’s personal life.

“The most difficult thing about my job is that I do a lot of 19-hour days. It’s really difficult to have a life, never-mind a relationship. But I don’t have any regrets, really. I’m quite content. I’m very stubborn and persistent. I just keep working,” said the 53-year-old.

But Kim, what’s your fantasy? Be a little nasty for us.

“I feel like I’m living my fantasy in a way. I’m a very independent woman,” said the cougar. “I don’t have to rely on anyone. I enjoy people. I’m very close to my family. I have pretty good values. I don’t really want for much. It’s all good.”

Not quite what I had in mind…

Sex and the City 2 arrives May 28.
