‘Lost’ Star Daniel Dae Kim Joins ‘Hawaii Five-O’ Reboot
CBS’ ‘Hawaii Five-O’ Relaunch Has Its First Lead
With ABC’s Lost finally coming to a close, expect to hear about its various cast members signing on to new long-term projects. Well, maybe not topliners Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly, who’ve both recently stated how they’re considering an early retirement once their Lost duties are fulfilled, which, of course, is annoying to hear and difficult to believe. One member of the Ocean 815 crew that’s set to ride his on-the-rise star status without qualms is Daniel Dae Kim, who plays the stoic “Jin” on ABC’s hit series. The Hollywood Reporter has divulged that the Korean actor joined the cast of CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 remake, which is the brainchild of Fringe co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (also the fellas responsible for writing last year’s Star Trek for J.J. Abrams, as well as both Transformers films).
Like Lost, Hawaii Five-O will be filmed in its namesake state. Kim will star as Detective Chin-Ho Kelly, a resurrected character from the original show (1968-1978) previously played by Kam Fong. His casting leaves one prominent role open, that of Detective Steve McGarret. Expect that part to be filled with the quickness.
