Awesome: Bill Murray Discusses the Conditions of ‘Ghostbusters III’

Bill Murray Confirms His Role in ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel

I’ve been less inclined to think of Ghostbusters 3 as something that would really happen — even when a script is being fleshed out by The Office writers, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, and Ivan Reitman is supposed to return — until I could hear more affirming words from Bill Murray. The most sarcastic of the Ghostbusters has been the prime reason why the sequel has been delayed so long, largely because he’s the only one with a legitimate acting career these days.

Murray has confirmed that he’ll be in Ghostbusters 3 (or is it III?), but not in the way you’re expecting:

“I’ll come back in Ghostbusters III only if I get to be a ghost. I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.”

So there you have it. Personally, I think this is an awesome idea that will really push the series in a new direction, particularly if they plan on shifting gears to make the third entry more of a “passing of the torch” film to a younger generation of Ghostbusters. I’m all for it.
