3D Sequels for ‘Transformers,’ ‘Underworld’?
Did ANYONE See This Coming?
The industry continues to shift under the Avatar Effect, and today brings two more rumors of future projects jumping to the third dimension.
Variety reported today that Len Wiseman is returning to the franchise that birthed his directing career to direct a fourth Underworld movie. Kate Beckinsale might be back, but that’s all we know.
Back in January, Reelloop Writer / sexual deviant John Cooper reported that the next Transformers film could very well be in 3D, which would seem a given had Michael Bay not previously questioned the format, calling it a “gimmick.” Today, Variety also reported that “there have been discussions among Bay, Paramount and Industrial Light & Magic about going 3D” with a third Transformers movie. I really want to end this paragraph by making fun of the Transformers movies, but I think all the jokes have been taken.
I will say this – regardless of how good or not good those movies are, a 3D action movie edited by Michael Bay will literally make me vomit my own exploding eyeballs. I get dizzy enough with the constant (unnecessary) editing in his flicks; if I have to readjust my eyes to a new 3D shot every single second of the film, I will seriously not be able to watch Transformers 3.
Which might not be a bad thing, actually.
