Julia Roberts on ‘Pretty Woman 2′: ‘Nobody Wants to See an Old Hooker’
Who is asking for another ‘Pretty Woman’?
Oscar winner Julia Roberts is no go for a follow-up to her 1990 breakthrough comedy, Pretty Woman, in case anybody is asking.
Roberts, 42, said that reprising her role as whore Vivian Ward was a bad idea because “nobody wants to see an old hooker.”
However, if one were to ask me if I did want to see an old hooker, Julia Roberts would be No.1 on my list. Along with the three-breasted prostitute from Total Recall. (Three of ‘em!)
“It’s not that I’m anti romantic-comedy, which, for some reason, is always the favored interpretation,” says Roberts who was nominated for a Golden Globe last month for her role in Duplicity. “’I like being funny, I like being romantic… but it’s challenging trying to find a script which is original or interesting.”
Though Runaway Bride, which reunited Roberts, Richard Gere and director Garry Marshall, may be the closest thing to a Pretty Woman 2, multiple scripts for have been written for a sequel. Nobody has any interest.
Roberts will be appearing in the upcoming rom-com Valentine’s Day.
