James Bobin In Talks For Jason Segel’s New Muppets Movie
New Muppets Movie Moves Closer to Reality
Flight of the Conchords co-creator James Bobin has been reportedly offered the director’s chair for the new Muppets film.
Bobin helped create the popular, but sadly short-lived Flight of the Conchords series on HBO with Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. He was recently approached by Disney to make the first Muppets movie since 1999’s dirge Muppets From Space.
Jason Segel (I Love You, Man, CBS’ How I Met Your Mother) and Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) have already written the script for the project, which sees the now disbanded Muppets getting back together to put on a show.
Stoller was initially attached to direct the film but left to complete work on Russell Brand’s Get Him To The Greek.
Bobin has also been rumored for Judd Apatow’s upcoming comedy Bridesmaids, which resolves around two women who fight it out to organize their friend’s wedding party.
It’s true, Jason Segel loves puppets. Here’s some of his handy work on a skit called Dracula’s Lament on Craig Ferguson’s Late, Late Show:
