The New Conan the Barbarian is Jason Momoa

The New Conan is Hawaiian

Take a look at that picture. Think of the words that pop into your mind. Hunky, maybe. Creepy. Sexy. Dirty, possibly. But is one of those words “Conan?”

Well, it should be: Stargate: Atlantis and Baywatch stud Jason Momoa, a full-blooded Hawaiian (and winner of Hawaii’s 1999 Model of the Year award), is director Marcus “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” Nispel’s choice for the leading role in the new Conan the Barbarian film.

I like it. It’s a unique choice, but the guy certainly fits the look and has the athleticism to portray the role. A quick glance of Youtube videos reveals a man of charisma and charm. I say go for it. And now, as an added bonus, is this tidbit: according to Latino Review, Mickey Rourke is also a favorite choice to play Conan’s father. Now that’d be a casting choice made in heaven.

More news on Conan as the film develops.
