First Images from ‘Predators’ Invade Your Computer
Your First Real Look at Nimrod Antal’s ‘Predators’
The good, horror-pushing folks over at Bloody Disgusting delivered some goodness this morning, in the form of a few behind-the-scenes shots from the set of 20th Century Fox’s Predators, seen below. Pinned for a July 9 theatrical release, Predators is a bizarrely-cast yet quite promising addition to the franchise popularized by Arnie Schwarzenegger, with the Governator’s alien-killing duties noq relinquished to Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Alice Braga and Laurence Fishburne. Trejo and Fishburne, sure, and you’ll never hear any complaints from me concerning Miss Braga’s presence in anything, but Brody and Grace felt, at first, like they’d be laughed off the screen by the predators themselves. After further thought, however, the scrawny soldiers versus rasta-looking ETs is so strange that it just might work.
Besides, Predators is being produced by Robert Rodriguez, and its director, Nimrod Antal, has shown hints of better things in his previous mainstream looks, Vacancy and Armored. And, if recent reports can be believed, Sam Raimi and others throughout are so impressed by what they’ve seen of Predators so far that Antal’s name is on the shortlist to take over the Spiderman universe. Still only speculation, though.
For now, sit with these, the first available Predators images, complete with vintage monster designs and Brody mugging it up in commando gear.
