David Arquette Says Craven is Back for ‘Scream 4′
‘Scream 4′ On the Horizon Pending Wes Craven’s Return
I love the concept of the ‘red carpet’ — an event completely designed to make people nervous, irritated and to push celebrities into awkward situations on the air. Like last night when the guy with the microphone asked Tobey Maguire about the future of the Spiderman francise. You could almost see the tears welling up in his eyes.
Every once in a while, however, a tidbit of good information does get leaked at events like the Golden Globes. Last night, one interviewer cornered husband and wife duo David and Courtney Cox Arquette to ask about the future of the Scream franchise, which creator Kevin Williamson had been pushing for toward the end of 2009.
David was confident about the franchise: “Yes, Wes [Craven] is in, Neve [Campbell] is in, everyone is in.”
His wife, less so: “I know they’re trying to make that work … they’ll make it work. I hope.”
Of course David Arquette is excited to return to Scream; unlike his wife, whose television career is still blossoming, his success has been limited at best. The lynchpin of whether Scream 4 will get off the ground or not is truly the pending return of Wes Craven, who made the series work in the first place.
