Robert Downey Jr. cast in Todd Phillips’ ‘Hangover’ followup

Cool.

Cool.

Robert Downey Jr., you know, the guy that was in The Soloist, has joined the cast of Todd Phillips’ road trip comedy Due Date.

I reported on Atomic Popcorn that Hangover standout, Zach Galifianakis, was set to play an oddball “who travels with an expectant father as they race across the country to see the birth of his first child.” Well, dear friends, it appears that Downey will play said expectant father.

Awesome.

Todd Phillips’ The Hangover, raked in an impressive $242.6 million domestically and has become the sleeper hit of the year. His other credits include School for Scoundrels, Old School and Road Trip.

Production on Due Date will start this Fall for a summer 2010 release.

In other Downey news, he just appeared at Comic-Con 09 in San Diego and blew the roof off with footage from Iron Man 2. (You have to fit in Iron Man 2 news where you can.)
