Star Trek 2 to be released at the end of June, 2012

The sequel to ‘Star Trek’ to debut in June of 2012

rl_trek2It’s being reported over at ComingSoon that the highly anticipated sequel to J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek will be released the weekend of June 29th 2012, making it the only movie scheduled to come out in June of that summer.

What’s it about? Nobody knows for sure, but there is a lot speculation that the film will feature the notorious Trek baddie, Khan. A villain some cast members would like to see.

J.J. Abrams still hasn’t decided if he will direct the sequel or not. The 43-year-old is reportedly waiting for a finished script to come in before he decides if he will hop into the director’s chair. One thing is for sure. He will be back to produce the film.

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who wrote the first film, is also writing the script for the second, and the full cast is expected to return to reprise their roles.

In December, Avatar babe Zoe Saldana, who played Uhura in Star Trek, announced that writing duo Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci are currently in the “middle of the script” and movement on Star Trek 2 wil begin late next year.

“I spoke to J.J. [Abrams] and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot, and they are still in the middle of building the script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and we’ll probably be going into pre-production around this time next year,” she said.

  3. Hi. I just noticed that your site looks like it has a few code errors at the very top of your website’s page. I’m not sure if everybody is getting this same bugginess when browsing your blog? I am employing a totally different browser than most people, referred to as Opera, so that is what might be causing it? I just wanted to make sure you know. Thanks for posting some great postings and I’ll try to return back with a completely different browser to check things out!

This movie is going to be awesome. Last years reboot completely refreshed the franchise. I might be being controversial here but I think the acting, special effects and script were all improvements. Some of the old Trek movies were really creaky, the new cast was fresh. I hope that the sequel can live up to the high standards set by its predecessor.
