Just when you thought it was safe to breathe a sigh of relief after Steven Spielberg’s unnecessary Oldboy remake collapsed — the remake train proves that it just doesn’t stop.
Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to remake Park Chan-Wook’s earlier film, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. The revenge tale that centers on a deaf-mute man is already being reworked by screenwriter Brian Tucker, who’s responsible for the upcoming Broken City, which we know nearly nothing itself.
Mr. Vengeance isn’t sacred ground the way Oldboy is, and there’s less material in Mr. Vengeance that just wouldn’t fly with mainstream American audiences like Oldboy. While development is early in the Mr. Vengeance remake, make sure to check out the original film as well as Oldboy, which is one of my favorite films ever.

Oh golly I can't see this having a happy ending. The only good thing is that it puts Park Chan-Wook's name in the headlines a bit more and hopefully people will go back and watch the originals._
Think my favourite of the vengeance trilogy may be Lady Vengeance tho.
