‘Zombieland’ Writers Sign On to ‘Deadpool’
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to Script ‘Deadpool’

If there’s one thing the character of Deadpool needs after being horribly ravaged in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it’s a solo film that is scripted by someone who has a sure hand in both action and comedy. Ryan Reynolds is a great choice (almost a given to play the role, even if he hadn’t appeared in Wolverine), so that part is out of the way.
Thankfully, the character is getting what he needs: Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers responsible for last year’s Zombieland, have officially signed on to the film after rumors of their attachment sprung up not long ago.
No word yet on when production will begin, or what the status is on Reese and Wernick’s script — remember, Ryan Reynolds wants to start from scratch with a dark and hilarious reboot of the character, ignoring Wolverine’s continuity all together.
Once a director is selected, it’s likely that we’ll see a date materialize for the start of production. Why not hand the job to Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer?
