23rd James Bond Film Delayed
MGM Bidding War Stalls ‘Bond 23′

I’ve written about MGM’s little bankruptcy/bidding war before, and for the most part I’m fine with the process, albeit a little sad. Business is business, and Hollywood is as dog-eat-dog as every other industry.
With that in mind, my God am I irked that the still-untitled James Bond 23 is being delayed by MGM’s bidding. As of now, Daniel Craig’s third outing as 007 will be delayed until a final buyer is in place. So say longtime producers Michael and Barbara Broccoli:
“Well, our timeline’s a little up in the air what with the situation at MGM, so we have to be flexible. We just don’t know enough about the situation to comment, but we know it’s uncertain.”
Thus, it is up in the air as to when the film will begin production with a script by Peter Morgan. God willing, they’ll have a start date before the middle of 2010. No word yet on whether Guillermo Del Toro’s much-anticipated The Hobbit will be similarly delayed.
