rl_redSummit Entertainment has revealed that its upcoming big-screen adaptation of Red, based on the graphic novel by Warren Ellis, will arrive in theaters in October of 2010.

Starring Bruce Willis, Red centers on a retired black ops agent whose former employer sends a team of highly-trained and technologically advanced assassins after him.

The film was originally slated for November. Red will now face off against Saw VII and Prisoners.

Red also stars Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly, Mary-Louise Parker and James Remar.

Parker plays the love interest, a federal pension worker who becomes embroiled in the Willis character’s struggle to stay alive.

DC’s Gregory Noveck exec produces with Jake Myers. Jon and Erich Hoeber adapted the script.

  1. I seen this movie filming in Toronto, Ontario, Canada earlier this evening (Jan. 16th, 2010). Crew member said whole movie is to be filmed in Toronto. Very exciting for our country.
