Country cutie Taylor Swift is on the short list for the casting of a new Supergirl. Yes, Supergirl, a project that hasn’t even been rumored about let alone being a actual project developed by either Warner Bros. or DC Entertainment.
“Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl,” says Bang Showbiz, a London-based entertainment news agency, who is quoting a mysterious “industry insider.”
“A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spinoff, and Taylor is top of that list. She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls,” said the “source.”
These elements would include being blonde, slim, kinda’ tall and young. Acting chops not required.
This reminds me of an equally bullploppy rumor of Miley Cyrus playing Batgirl earlier this year.
1984’s Supergirl starred Helen Slater as Superman’s Kryptonian cousin Kara Zor-El.
Although the film is widely considered a box office bomb, the film took the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office during its opening weekend and did well overseas. In total, however, the film grossed only just over a third of its $35 million budget.
