Bryan Singer is Returning to the X-Men Franchise
Singer Returns for X-Men Origins: First Class

A lot of rumors have been spread after the critical failures of X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine that the director of X-Men and X2 would be returning to the series he abandoned for Superman Returns.
The rumors are true. According to /Film, Bryan Singer let it slip at the Avatar premiere last night that he would be coming back for more in X-Men Origins: First Class:
“I’m prepping up to do a movie called Jack the Giant Killer at Warner Brothers, and I just yesterday signed a deal to do an X-Men First Class Origins picture, which is kind of cool.”
While who knows what this means for Singer’s career (his personal outings of Superman Returns and Valkyrie were pretty legitimate flops, or at least didn’t get the reception they sought). But this means great things for the X-Men franchise, which has missed Singer’s unique sensibilities and thematic depth.
Producer Lauren Shuler Donner talked a bit about what we can expect from the film:
“So it’s young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that’ll be really fun. I think (the plan) is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world. And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up.”
What do you think? Are you sick of X-Men, or glad that Singer is returning to the franchise he started? Let us know in the comments!
