Radio Norfolk’s favourite presenter, Alan Partridge, is finally moving out of his Travel Lodge hotel room to relocate to the States. Steve Coogan, whilst talking to Empire, revealed that his much loved comic creation will make the move across the pond for a big screen feature due to be written next year. Despite Coogan have a degree of success in Hollywood, appearing in the likes of Tropic Thunder and Hamlet 2, in his homeland it is his portrayal of the socially awkward, blazer sporting failed chat show host he is most well known for.

Fans fearing that a change of location may alter Partridge’s uniquely British style needn’t worry as Coogan explains: “We’re doing it in the States, but I’m not going to try and Americanise it… (He’ll) be a British fool/idiot character in a movie that should appeal to everybody.” Whilst a screenplay has yet to be written, Coogan hopes the long awaited project will start filming late next year.

Meanwhile Alan Partridge producer Armando Iannucci received further acclaim for his film In The Loop which picked up Best Film at The British Comedy Awards on Saturday night. In the same week the film picked up a British Independent Film Award too.
