Frank Langella is one of those guys who can be effortlessly good in any role he picks out of a hat, just like his co-star in Frost/Nixon, Michael Sheen. Sheen will have his New Moons and his Underworlds, Langella will have his Superman Returns and Small Soldiers variety of roles, but they’ll both be great through and through.
Will Dark Castle’s thriller Unknown White Male, starring Liam Neeson, Inglourious Basterds‘ Diane Kruger, and now Langella be a Frost/Nixon or disposable dreck? Who cares when you have a cast like this?
Jaume Collet-Serra’s film, which starts production in Berlin next month, will be centered on Neeson, who “plays a man who awakens from a coma to find somebody else has assumed his identity. Langella plays Cole, who comes forward as the coma guy’s colleague and gets involved as he tries to reclaim his identity.”
Langella’s good at the mysterious stranger schtick — he seems to be playing it in not only this film, but also in Richard Kelly’s The Box. You can also see him in Oliver Stone’s upcoming sequel to Wall Street.
