McG Still Hell-Bent on More ‘Terminator’ Sequels
McG Sets His Sights on Terminator 5 and 6
I tend to be the sort of person who finds the good in things, movies included. While the rest of the world pointed out the fact that Terminator Salvation was a clunker, I reveled in what was good about it: Anton Yelchin as Reese, interesting references to the first few films, etc.
That said, I think The Terminator would benefit from passing the torch to another director. McG had his chance. Still, the guy’s more than a little determined to hold onto the reins. He talked up a new trilogy before the release of Salvation, and this past weekend on BD-Live Bluray commentary for the film, he reaffirmed these vows.
Take a look at these quotes below, from what /Film says is an intoxicated writer for Gizmodo.com:
“7:13: He just announced that he’s making another Terminator movie. Seriously.”
“7:16: Oh and for those people who are punching themselves in the face that he’s making another one? He said he’s making one after that.”
“7:21: And now McG is being coy about making another one? I don’t get it.”
“7:24: And now he’s talking about a second or third movie again.”
“7:46: He says Sarah Connor is going to be in the next film, but he’s not sure how he’s going to pull that off.”
What do you think? Should the studio (whichever studio the rights to the film lands with after its present juggling act) stick with McG and let the guy flesh out his vision, or should we start again from square one? Let us know in the comments!
