Chris Weitz wanted to direct ‘Breaking Dawn’?
Though Summit Entertainment has yet to officially announce the production of the final installment of Twilight, Breaking Dawn, they have reportedly expressed interest in New Moon director Chris Weitz to return to the franchise.
Summit enjoyed the work from Weitz who experienced great box office success with New Moon and wants to secure the director for the last film(s).
Most likely Weitz won’t be back. He is headed to Summit’s other project The Gardener.
Summit wanting Weitz for Breaking Dawn is pure speculation especially since David Slade’s take on the franchise with Eclipse has yet to be released. Weitz, in an interview with Time magazine, said that he does pay attention to rumors on the Internet…something I know to be true first hand.
“During shooting I tried to not go onto the Internet at all if possible,” says Weitz. “I started to pay attention to fan reaction to the trailers that have been out and what kind of stuff they like, just in order to get a temperature of where things were heading. I think you end up being a politician responding to polls if you pay too much attention to the Internet.”
The director adds: “Because it’s a quick way to convince yourself that one particular person who happens to be Twittering at the moment just happens to be the authority. I try to put out fires when bizarre rumors get started. One rumor I addressed was that the Volturi scenes were supposed to be set in a bathhouse with everyone naked.”
Please Summit Chris Weitz cannot be the right choice for BD Its Catherine Hardwicke who brought Twilight to us its Catherine who gave summit and twifans the perfect Edward Cullen and the rest of the characters. New Moon is hit not becoz of Chris Weitz its a hit becoz its the sequel of such a good film (Twilight). Catherine brought out Edward and Bellas passionate romance so beautifully and asthetically with its brilliant music score so I too think she should complete the saga. Chris Weitz is a bad option as he will only concentrate on the wolfs please summit do not drift from the centre plot of the story Bella and Edwards story. Chris alos tampered a lot with the original script written by Mellissa R.
We should all VOTE for Catherine to direct B/D. Chris W could not bring back the magic of E/B moment romance in the end .
i agree totally thats the only reson why i watched cause of the first movie honestly i probally cant be stuffed to watch breaking dwn if he diects it he dosnt show mouch emotion of the characters he more of a director for action movies but hell probally stuff that up to anyone who would agree with you no one or barly anyone would of seen new moon just because chris weitz directed it it was because of the books and catherine hartwicks awesome job at twilight i dont know what the hell summits thinking we should get to vote who directs breaking dawn the fans not because he made more money than catherine hartwick

New Moon was too cold especially the reunion scene Edward and Bella do not show that passion and emotional connect which was very impt at the end as all were eagerly waiting for edward to come back thats the whole fun of he not being their in the middle portion of the film. Chris only concentrated on the wolfs.Cathrine made the end look so beautifull with the prom scene she will definatly make Bella and Edwards wedding a special one which is really impt summit . Hope Eclipse shows some passionate Edward Bella moments.
Well no offense Chris W but 1 bedroom kissing scene of Twilight could not bring the same magic in New Moons 4 kissing scenes between Edward and Bella. Something really big was lacking in NM. I think too much of Jacob is not good.
I just hope this remains a rumor only dont spoil the saga bring Cathrine back only she can bring out Edwards and Bella romance out in BD which Chris completely tampered with.
funny u like catherine to direct BD. Yes she did the romance part ok but overall she did pretty messy work. I hated it so much!
about breaking dawn, i suggest summit will consider in rating the movie into 2 rate categories : PG13 & R. The honeymoon and the birth scenes can be done without any restrains on creativity and the originality just like the book in R-rated Breaking Dawn. While in PG13-rated Breaking Dawn, Summit can make those scenes suitable to PG-13 rated guideline. I guess, it can be done and no one will lose anything. Everyone will be satisfied rite? What do you think?
