‘The Office’ Writers Have Low ‘Self Esteem’
Mindy Kaling and Brent Forrester Team for Romantic Comedy

I love the U.S. version of The Office. Without shame. I hear complaints of diminishing quality, but I still can never get enough of it.
That’s why I’m glad to hear the news from Variety that two of the show’s key writers — Brent Forrester and Mindy Kaling, who also plays Kelly on the show — are teaming up to begin working on a feature film with the production gang behind Juno.
The Low Self Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie, a romantic comedy, will also be produced by John Malkovich under his Mr. Mudd house. The film revolves around “a woman whose lack of self-worth has limited her choice in men to losers. Just as she is about to hit the bottom of the barrel, her life takes an unexpected turn when she is pursued by the hottest guy ever.”
Sounds less clever than I’d have hoped, but with these writers on board, anything is possible. Kaling will also play a supporting role in the film.
