The Prince of Wales to Attend ‘Lovely Bones’ Premiere
Lovely Bones Premiere to Have Royal Attendees

I’m under the impression (and I may be totally, completely wrong) that Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Lovely Bones will be a really good film that’s destined to be overshadowed by Avatar at an end-of-the-year release date. In my opinion, the film has gotten nowhere near the amount of exposure it has needed or deserved, but perhaps this is just due to an audience of readers that already knew they were buying tickets when the movie was released.
One of those people attending the world premiere of the film today in London’s Leicester Square is one of the biggest names you can get: the Prince of Wales, alongside the Duchess of Cornwall. I’m unfamiliar with how premiere’s usually work in the U.K. — does royalty often attend premieres just as U.S. Presidents are swift to grab screener copies of films for the White House?
Regardless, this is pretty cool news. Hopefully it will expose the film to the U.S. audience more than it already has been. The Lovely Bones, starring Atonement’s Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci, will be released in the U.S. on December 11, and will go wide on Christmas Day, with a national release on January 15, 2010.
I’ll be in line. This is one of the last remaining films that I’m dying to check out this year.

The royals come once a year to the see a film put on by the "Film and Television Benevolent Fund", and The Lovely Bones was this years' pick. It was a great film; I was dead lucky to get a ticket. I'd never been to a premiere before, and everyone laughed at me when I went out to try and buy some popcorn (apparently at premiers you get _given_ popcorn.. nobody tells me these thigs)
Very cool. Thank you for filling me in!
