Dennings to join Thor
House Bunny star joins Marvel cast

Kat Dennings has been announced as a late addition to the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Marvel’s Thor.
The news was leaked when Natalie Portman let slip in an interview with MTV that she was looking forward to working with her “good friend” and “amazing actress” Dennings in the new project. Portman, however, was not forthcoming in details regarding the role that the Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist star would take. Whilst it has been announced that Portman will play Jane Foster, nurse to Thor’s human alter-ego Donald Blake, and that Jaimie Alexander is set for the role as the Asgardian warrior Sif, there has been no official confirmation as to the part Dennings will play in the project.
Although speculation has been rife that Dennings could be playing any number of parts ranging from a rogue Norse goddess through to the younger sister of Portman’s character, Heyuguys have done some research to uncover the role the young actress is likely to fill. The website was able to uncover a casting call for a character which sounds uncannily like the one Dennings has made her trademark in recent films.
The character, named Marcey Lewis, is described as a twenty year old college student “aloof” and “jaded beyond her years”. Lewis is also said to deal with her unglamorous life by using “subtle irony and being an overt wiseass” – traits that can be certainly found in Dennings blogs and tweets as well as her on screen performances.
Born Katherine Litwack, the 23 year old actress has a number of upcoming projects on the horizon including her role in the upcoming Woody Harrelson superhero film Defendor and a rumoured book deal. As an engaging screen presence, it is always a pleasure to hear of any new Dennings projects on the horizon and, as such, the recent announcement that her romantic comedy project Liars (A to E) had been scrapped left a feeling of disappointment for this writer. The cancelation was due to cost cuts at Disney.
