Mel Gibson sounds off on not being cast in new ‘Mad Max’
Original Mad Max star Mel Gibson talks about age and the new Oz project
Mel Gibson doesn’t feel slighted by not returning to portray Mad Max in the upcoming movie and has embraced the difficulties that his age brings. Just ask him. Is age a problem ?
“Not with me, I’m a bit old and long in the tooth for that number,” says Gibson. “You need somebody who can get around a bit quicker. I was just talking with George [Miller] the other day. I figure if it’s great, you’ll end up seeing it, you know.”
The new Mad Max, currently titled Mad Max: Fury Road, has reportedly gone back-and-forth between Sam Livingston and Tom Hardy portraying the lead. The project has already cast Charlize Theron.
Mad Max debuted in 1979 and starred Mel Gibson as a cop in a post-apocalyptic world. Two sequels were made in ‘81 and ‘85.

If you say so, Mel….let´s wait and see it.
You know. your fans always support your points, but this time we are all really sorry about this «no Mel Mad Max»….because, mad or not, YOU ARE MAX!
I’m really sad about this. I waited all these years just praying for another Mad Max movie, but I wanted to see Mel do one more. It’s not Mad Max without Mel. Come on, we last saw Max just walking off into the desert. I’m dying to know what happened to him after that. But only if Mel plays him. Mel, you are not too old for one more of these movies.
