Denied: Rachel McAdams will not be Black Cat in ‘Spider-Man 4′

The lovely Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) has squashed rumors pointing to her as the front-runner for the role of Black Cat in Spider-Man 4. A role that doesn’t officially exist and is most likley a product of the rampant spidey-mill.

McAdams was rumored for the part of Felicia Hardy, a former girlfriend of Peter Parker  who is an accomplished cat burglar. The 30-year-old called the news completely false.

“That’s a total rumor, I have to say,” says McAdams. “I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, ‘I just heard you’re doing Spider-Man 4‘. And I said, ‘Really? No-one told me!’ It’s not true.”

While we’re in the Spidey rumor-squashing business, Romola Garai was reportedly “surprised” that Spider-Man 4 was such a big deal and notified fans that her involvement is virtually nil.

“I had no idea that with Spider-Man 4 being such a big film… that people would pick up on it,” Garai said. “I was a bit taken aback… I’m not going to get this [role]!”
