rl_silentMark your calendars, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will hit shelves this December for the Nintendo Wii says Konami.

Shattered Memories is a direct remake of the 1999 original with updated graphics, new context and additional content.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories begins just like the original as Harry Mason is searching for his daughter through the snowy streets of the haunted Silent Hill where he will encounter a cast of unique characters,” explains Konami. “However, this time, players are equipped with only a flashlight and cellphone to get story information, solve puzzles and navigate the darkness while escaping the demons that lurk among them.”

The Wii edition will feature platform-specific features that use the system’s controller.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will arrive for the Wii on December 8th. No word yet on a release on PSP and PS3 but an announcement is expected soon.

Editors note (11/18/09): This game is due out on PS2, not PS3. Sorry for the confusion. Let the debate on “reimagining” versues “remake” continue.
