Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia) is set to star in the upcoming action-thriller true story The Devil’s Double for Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group .
Cooper will play Latif Yahia, “a dead ringer for Saddam Hussein’s sadistic and widely despised son Uday who was forced against his will to stand in for Uday in potentially dangerous situations.” Through his access, Yahia gained access to Hussein’s inner sanctum and witnessed terrible corruption, violence and nuttiness.
Ludivine Sagnier is also in talks to star in the project which begins shooting in January in scenic Malta.
Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day) will direct from a script that Michael Thomas adapted.
Last month, while promoting his latest film, An Education, in the U.K., Cooper talked about the rumored prequel to Mamma Mia. “Unfortunately you say sequel, I’ve heard a terrible similar word beginning with a ‘p’, which absolutely outs my existence in it whatsoever,” he said.
