Despite what some members of the Ghostbusters 3 production crew may tell you, not everyone has been invited back to the highly anticipated project.
“Nobody has called me. It’s not like I’ve been hard to find either,” said Skeleton Cabbie. “I’ve reached out to Ivan [Reitman] and I even left a voicemail for Harold [Ramis] but so far nobody has called me back. It’s hard not to feel sad about this. We all had a great time when we filmed [Ghostbusters].”
Skeleton Cabbie played himself in the hugely successful 1984 film Ghostbusters. Starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, the film spawned a cartoon, video games, a popular line of toys and a sequel in 1989.
“Wow, the stories I could tell you about Bill [Murray]. One time on set he showed up with this Russian chick and the two…well, I won’t go into it. You’ll just have to read my book,” Cabbie said.
In December, Cabbie will release a self-published “tell all” book about his experience on the set of the original Ghostbusters. In it, Skeleton dishes on Ramis’ odd eating habits, Akyroyd’s fascination with flightless birds and a fight with co-star Slimmer.
“I [expletive] hate that little [expletive],” he says. “He thought he was big time because of that little film he was in before ‘Busters. Some foreign flick that won an award. I think it was called Summertime Spooks DeVille or something. I watched it. [It] wasn’t great. He was in it for, like, three seconds.”
When asked if his lack of involvement in the third installment of Ghostbusters could be related to his forthcoming book, Cabbie scoffed. “I’m not hurting for cash. Let me just say that I’m doing okay. Look at my watch. My clothes. Girls are all over me. I don’t need this,” he said.
A draft of Ghostbusters 3 has reportedly been completed by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky and has been shown to key members of the cast.
The film is scheduled for a release in 2012.
