Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron eye roles in Mel Gibson-less ‘Mad Max 4′
Mad Max 4 moves forward without Mel Gibson
Hot stuff Charlize Theron and Bronson’s Tom Hardy are reportedly in talks to star in Mad Max 4.
Directed by Australian filmmaker George Miller, the story in Mad Max 4 is being treated like a state secret. During auditions, actors are simply given a letter for their characters name on it. Try getting into character based on THAT! Hardy, who was also in Star Trek: Nemisis, is eyeing the the role of Max Rockatansky and will replace Mel Gibson who is not expected to return to the iconic role. No formal offer has been made.
Theron, who recently exited The Tourist, the American remake of French film Anthony Zimmer, may play the female lead.
The production, which is still in its infancy, still does not have financing. Money is dependent on the cast.
Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) had auditioned for a role in the film in August.
Mad Max debuted in 1979 and starred Mel Gibson as a cop in a post-apocalyptic world. Two sequels were made in ‘81 and ‘85.
