‘Scary Movie 5′ might be dead and we’re okay with that
Scary Movie 5 might roll out after Scream 4
If a genie granted me three wishes, I would use one on not having a Scary Movie 5. The other two have to do with Holli Wood from Cool World.
If there is a possibility of a Scary Movie 5 then it’ll have to wait until the Weinstein Company finishes up Scream 4 which won’t be released until 2010…late 2010. Cinema Blend reported that some “insiders” are alleging that the cinco will be a reboot and won’t include the series’ saving grace Anna Faris. Much of the hubbub probably has to do with her salary which has gone up after her success with The House Bunny.
“Everyone wants to know if there will be a fifth Scary Movie and I really have no answer,” Faris told Fangoria in September.
It could also be that the series stinks and Weinstein knows it. There are two reasons for a reboot: 1) The original is old and needs to be given the once-over for a “new generation” and 2) it sucks.
The first Scary Movie, maybe its sequel too, were funny but from there the comedy train derailed and killed a bunch of onlookers. If you count all the spin-offs from the Scary Movie series (Disaster Movie, Superhero Movie (sans “Unibrow, unibrow!)) then all the movies combined have killed a small town. If you live on the Left Coast or NYC then you might be okay with it…
Maybe I won’t need to use a genie wish on this…
