Patrick Lussier to direct ‘Halloween 3D’

According to Dread Central, Patrick Lussier will helm the upcoming Weinstein production of Halloween 3D.

The My Bloody Valentine 3D director will be joined by Jason X writer Todd Farmer, with production to begin in early November.

Earlier this month we reported that the Weinstein Company announced intentions to move on with another reboot of the Michael Myers franchise despite Halloween and Halloween 2 director Rob Zombie making it clear he will not return for a third entry.

A search began to find a director who could bring a fresh look to the series after Halloween 2’s opened with a strong $16 million domestically.

No word if Zombie’s story will remain intact for the third chapter, nor if Scout Taylor-Compton, Brad Dourif and Tyler Mane will be returning.

Halloween 3D will hit theaters in the summer of 2010.
