New ‘Night of the Living Dead’ remake to be shown in “American-style anime”

Just last night I was wondering if somebody was going to make a CGI remake of George A. Romero’s iconic Night of the Living Dead and present it in 3D and now, oddly, we have news of it. Weird.

According to Heat Vision Blog, Night of the Living Dead: Origins will retell the original tale by providing some much-needed background (sarCASM!) on some of the characters’ origins. The film will also be stylized with “American-style anime”  which will allow filmmakers to direct CG performances the same way they would direct real live actors.

George A. Romero is not part of this project and neither am I. Romero is busy with his own zombie film, Survival of the Dead which just debuted at the Toronto Film Festival. I’m busy writing news stories about zombie movies.

No word on a release date for Night of the Living Dead: Origins.

What do you think about a new Living Dead movie? Does it bother you that the film will be in 3D or will be produced with Romero?
