Favreau to join the fight against the alien scourge in ‘Cowboys and Aliens’

Favreau and Downey reteam for another comic book movie

Iron Man director Jon Favreau will be reteaming with Robert Downey Jr. for the DreamWorks/Universal project Cowboys and Aliens.

Downey has been attached to the graphic novel adaptation since last summer which is due to begin production in th summer of 2010. Star Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will pull double-duty and adapt the story along with producing the film.

Created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Cowboys and Aliens dabbles in alternative history using a story based on traditional Old West adversaries – cowboys and Indians – fighting aliens in mid-1800s Arizona.

Favreau and Downey’s current project, Iron Man 2, is currently in post-production with a U.S. release of May 7, 2010.
