‘Rambo V’ heads to the U.S.-Mexico border
Stallone to direct and star in Rambo 5
Sylvester Stallone will direct and star in the fifth installment of the Rambo franchise. The movie’s plot will focus on a kidnapping near the U.S.-Mexico border with filming beginning next spring with a 2011 release.
Pitched as only a story, Rambo V will feature Stallone’s John Rambo rescuing a young girl who was abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. No word if the 63-year-old actor will also write the script as he did for the franchise’s last entry, 2008’s Rambo.
In an interview with Reuters last year, Stallone said that the possibility of a Rambo V will be purely based on the success of Rambo. “It will depend on the success of this one, but right now I think I’m gearing one up. It will be quite different,” he said.
“We’ll do something a little darker and a little more unexpected.”
Rambo grossed $113.2 million worldwide.
