Next Superman film to be a possible reboot: In other news, the sky is blue
Is a reboot coming for Superman?
“I think it’s good that they just had a court case where, basically, if you make another Superman movie, you can’t touch Superman growing up — that’s part of the story that you can’t touch any more,” said the ever astute V for Vendetta director James McTeigue when asked about a possible Superman reboot. “That wouldn’t be a bad thing. I think everybody’s a bit sick of seeing the origin story.”
Truer words have never been spoken.
McTeigue recently caught up with MTV News while doing press for Ninja Assassin. The director has been linked to a possible Superman reboot, something Warner Bros. is under pressure to produce before 2011 but without an origin story. Warner Bros. lost control of the rights to the Supe’s origin story after a protracted 10-year court battle.
Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joel Schuster regained most of Superman’s early history.
“I think if I was ever going to go near Superman, I would do a complete reboot — take it in a direction that you would absolutely not expect, actually,” McTeigue told MTV News. “So, that would be my thinking on it, if I was ever going to go near Superman.”
