Hollywood is still reeling over Thursday’s shocking revelation that legendary director Martin Scorsese will not cast Leonardo DiCaprio in his hotly-anticipated Frank Sinatra biopic, due out next year.
Several reports have Scorsese opting for an older take on Ol’ Blue Eyes, pinpointing Al Pacino as Sinatra and Robert De Niro as Dean Martin.
DiCaprio, reached for comment on a press junket for Christopher Nolan’s Inception, was none too pleased.
“You think you know a guy,” DiCaprio said, visibly agitated. “It was my understanding that I had the right of first refusal on all of Marty’s projects. We had lunch and talked about this Sinatra deal just last month. Unbelievable.”
The working relationship between DiCaprio and Scorsese has been very beneficial for both actor and director. DiCaprio did the heavy lifting in some of Scorsese’s highest profile projects over the last decade with starring roles in Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs of New York.
“You know, I’m not even mad,” DiCaprio continued, though he was clearly incensed. “I feel bad for him. I mean, I would have killed it in this role. Although, it’s not like I have impossibly beautiful blue eyes. Oh, wait I TOTALLY DO.
“And Pacino? Really? Christ…Hope he’s ready for excessive shouting and scenery-chewing. Also, what is he, like 90? Hey Marty, it’s not 1974. And if it was, you could just cast Frank to play himself. To be fair, I’m sure all 12 people who saw Righteous Kill were really clamoring for another Pacino/De Niro vehicle. Good luck.”
Scorsese could not be reached for comment, but did issue a cryptically bitter written statement: “If Leo is upset about my choice in casting, I’m sure Christopher Nolan will be more than happy to lend his shoulder to cry on.”
Whichever side you’re on, the fact remains that one of Hollywood’s most profitable relationships of the past 10 years is in serious jeopardy, and it’s effects are being felt all over Tinseltown. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are so spooked by the DiCaprio-Scorsese fallout that they’ve entered director/actor counseling to prevent a similar catastrophe in their union. Reps from the Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe camp said they expect the duo to follow suit, and word is that the incident has compelled Paul Thomas Anderson to reach out to estranged collaborating partner Philip Seymour Hoffman.

neither leo nor al and robert deniro should be frank – lame! al and robert are too old and leo is too stupid and doesn’t fit the role. leo is such a crybaby.
go to your 2 million dollar yacht leo and cry in your supermodel’s arms. baby!
I don't belive this is true at all, Leo would not act like that and I also don't believe Marty would treat Leo that way. Leo has a lot on his plate right now and maybe he just didn't want to do this.
nice try
Mary Contrary, contrary to what you read..its a SATIRE..get it??? dumbass!!!!!!do you believe everything on print?? duh!!!
I have met Leo and know very well Marty, Ignore this as it is out of character for both Leo and Marty, I will wait for a more reputable source before I believe this site.
canus do you fart at every comment? lol
ITS A JOKE!!!!!! GEEZ
I hope this is a farce because they have made some outstanding movies to date. If he doesn't want Leo for the part, screw h.. Leo will always be the best actor around and will never be without an important roll to play. Maybe he might have trouble years from now, but that is a long way off. Good luck to Leo.
Yes screw everyone who think Leo cant do a part…. Leo is simply the best there ever was according to me! the guy is a genius in his space!!!!! And he seems a very level headed guy too!! Cheers to you Leo for all your accomplishments!! Love ya!
hahahaha! i can only laugh… Leo would NEVEEEEER act that childish and immature over a movie! and most certainly not say he has beautiful eyes! and if so he’d be saying it in a more educated, dignified matter – It’s Leonardo DiCaprio!!!!
If you were trying to start a rumour, bad news, epic faaail! i’ve never heard a story more full of bullshit.
