Canada’s only pop stars, Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber, will soon embark on what their manager’s call “the greatest fusion of safe suburban rock and pop ever seen.”
Lavigne, who appeared in character and posed as a judge during an audition round of American Idol this season, will reportedly pretend to be “cool” and “dangerous” in arenas across North America. The singer-songwriter, who has yet to actually form a song musically, will open for teen sensation Justin Bieber.
“Avril is excited about this endeavor and hopes to bring her vision of shallow social observations to the masses,” says Lavigne’s manager, Rachel Dergener.
This concert series will differ from her last tour.
“This time we listened to audience requests and we will not show Avril on stage. Remember when you first heard Complicated and thought, ‘Wow, what a great song’ and then learned it was sung by a little kid? We hope to recreate that first part.”
Bieber’s rise to stardom has caught most of the world by surprise. None more than the young robot himself. “When we first created Bieber 11, we were just going to use him in Old Navy ads. He would wear discount duds, sing a song we programmed into him and collect a check,” said Thomas Jerkins, the designer of the Bieber 11.
“Now we collect checks from his appearances on TV. Life is good.”
The concert tour entitled “Jams for White Folks” will begin this summer.
