If Zoe Saldana is to come back for another round of Avatar action, then the actress will need some prep time. After all, playing 9-foot Na’Vi warrior Neytiri isn’t something one can just do.
The 31-year-old recently talked about Avatar 2 and what it will take for the actress to get back into Na’Vi form.
“[Jim Cameron] already knows how I like to approach it,” says Saldana. “I need at least 6 to 7 months of training and stuff to get into Neytiri again and whatever’s going to happen is going to happen.”
The Star Trek actress went on: “It’s not something that I can just turn on and off. Everything is a learned skill. The same way it took me like 2 to 3 months to channel Aisha [her character in her upcoming action fiesta The Losers]. You know Neytiri is going to take her time as well. I mean, these are people we are kind of incarnating. It takes a little bit of preparation.”
Right, but will Avatar 2 be as well received by fans as the original?
“The good thing that we all know about Jim is—it’s not so good sometimes because we sometimes have to wait like 10 years for it—but by the time he does come around, he gives you something that sort of changes your life or at least touches it in such a way,” said Saldana. “So I do know that Avatar 2 is going to be just as great as the first one because Jim’s the sh*t.”
